Common Questions Asked
How do I buy tickets? Can I pay cash?
Tickets can be purchased through our website or by calling 1 800 656-0713. Payment options are Visa, AMEX or MasterCard. Tickets must be purchased at least 6 hours in advance. To maximize your chances of getting the day, time, and number of tickets you prefer, please book well in advance. Cash and/or walk-up traffic on the day of the tours are not accepted. Tickets are $65/pp + ticketing fee.
Do you accommodate allergies and dietary preferences?
Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate special dietary needs of our guests. However, for those who are eating wheat-free we recommend the Down By The River tour.
Is there alcohol served during the tour?
Yes, we stop at our local brewery on our Friday tour. Local beer is also served on our Saturday and Sunday tours. If a guest prefers, a non-alcoholic drink will be available on Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, several of our tasting locations provide ice water for tour guests.
Do we only walk around and sample food?
Absolutely not! The Good Food Tour combines architectural commentary, historical facts, local culture and culinary insight into a unique 3 hour experience. You will be walking through Almonte or Carleton Place, eating the local artisans’ most delicious foods while learning from the people who live here.
How much walking is involved? Is it a fast-paced tour?
We walk at a leisurely pace. The Downtown Meets Uptown tour is one & a half kilometres in total. The Down By The River Tour is less than a kilometre, and the Bites On Bridge Street tour is one kilometre. Tours last 3 hours. At most locations we will be sitting down. Note that there will be some locations where we will be standing.
Is there parking near the meeting point?
Yes, there is free parking at each of the starting points. After purchasing your ticket(s) you will receive information with directions, parking details and meet-up location.
Can I shop during the tour or experience?
The experiences are organized to arrive at each tasting location at a specified time, therefore it is important to stay on schedule so the food is freshly prepared for the guests. For that reason we ask you not to shop during the tour but instead allow time at the end of the experience to return to your favourite locations and/or stores
Do your tours have anything to offer people who live in Almonte / Carleton Place?
Yes! Many of The Good Food Tour attendees live right here in this area. It is a great way to learn some interesting stories of the towns' bygone era as well as check out a few food establishments of special interest.
How much food is served on the tour?
The Good Food Tour serves enough food that would equal a good-sized lunch. With the combination of food tastings and breaks for architectural, cultural, and historical insights, guests leave comfortably full after our food tours.
Do I need to purchase a ticket if I’m not eating on the tour?
Non-paying individuals will not be able to join the tour for any reason. The ticket fees help cover the costs of all the food tastings and to pay for your tour guide's wages, who offers valuable commentary on historical, architectural, cultural and restaurant information during your Good Food Tour.
What happens if it rains or snows?
We are a hardy bunch! The tours are held rain, shine, or snow. Please dress for the weather conditions and bring an umbrella if necessary.
Are bathrooms available during the tour?
Yes, bathrooms are available during the tour at the select food-tasting locations.
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Yes! We are totally okay with guests who take photos or videos.
What about bringing children on the tour?
There is a child ticket price. Note the tour is approximately 3 hours long and some children have a limited attention span. The tour may not be appropriate for some children. Parents know their child best and should assess the situation individually. Since there is a lot of standing and walking, please consider this when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for your child.
If I am bringing an infant/very young child, do I need to purchase a ticket for them?
If you are bringing an infant or a child 6 and under and they will not be participating in the tastings, you do not need to purchase a ticket for them. However, please do let us know if you will be attending with your child when you purchase your ticket in the notes section. Please note that stroller access is not readily available in some of our partner's locations.
If a food tour is sold out, can I get on a waiting list?
Unfortunately we do not provide a waiting list. If a date and time is sold out, there is a chance that we will add an additional tour on that day. Please contact us with the date you are interested in if you do not see an availability.
What is your Refund Policy?
Tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend the tour you have booked you may reschedule for another time and date up until 48 hours prior to the booked time. Within 48 hours you are welcome to send someone else in your place.
Are gift certificates available?
